GRADE -VI

 DEAR PARENTS,

We are pleased to inform you that the students have been inquiring about the different systems of human body for the past six weeks. They have gained a fair amount of knowledge about the function and connection of different systems and also how to take care of their body. They are now ready to go on board the next inquiry.

Transdisciplinary Theme:  WHERE WE ARE IN PLACE AND TIME.

Central Idea :  MANY SYSTEMS OF THE PAST CIVILIZATIONS ARE LINKED TO SOCIETIES AND CULTURES OF PRESENT DAY.

They will be inquiring into :

FOCUS IN THIS INQUIRY :

Key concepts:( whatever we want the students to understand) :Form  Connection        

                                                                           
Skills :(what we want students to be able to do):  Social skills (communication), Research skills 

Attitudes:(What we want the students to feel value and demonstrate) :  enthusiasm, respect.

Attributes:(what are we trying to understand and become) : Knowledgeable , thinker , open minded.

Learners outcome:

ENDURING UNDERSTANDING: The systems and aspects of the past civilizations,Why is learning about them relevant today? depth understanding of some aspects to be able to compare.                                                                                           

IMPORTANT TO KNOW: Time and place of civilization.

WORTH BEING FAMILIAR WITH: Inventions and discoveries.

SUBJECT INTEGRATION:                                                                          

Social studies  : History(civilizations), Civics(government and trade of past)
Language:   Article writing (about aspect of past civilizations which are relevant today).
Math:  Integers(number line)
Art:  Art forms from past to present.
Language: Evolution of language(script)

How can you help:

 Assessment:

From time to time the home room teacher will base formative assessment on written and oral work in the class. She will also assess the collaborative work done and the maintenance of student portfolio. A summative test will be conducted at the end of every inquiry.
