GRADE –I

UPDATE - 2

 Dear parents,

We have successfully completed the first unit of inquiry with your support. The students have understood that by making good choices they become independent and responsible.
We are now going to begin our second unit of inquiry. Below is a brief insight into what your child will be inquiring into:

TRANSDISCIPLINARY THEME: (An inquiry into orientation in place and time; personal histories; homes and journeys; the discoveries, explorations and migrations of humankind; the relationships between and the interconnectedness of individuals and civilizations, from local and global perspectives.)
Where We Are in Place and Time !

CENTRAL IDEA (The main idea behind our inquiry) : : Every place has unique address and location.

The students are going to inquire on:

      1. How address is an identity of a place (address, location , landmarks, directions).
      2. Locating different places.

Key Concepts: (What do we want students to understand?)

  1. Form  (What is it like?): Students understand that everything has a form with recognizable features that can be observed, identified and categorized.
  2. Reflection (How do we know): Students reflect on their new learning and learn to apply it.

Skills: (What do we want students to be able to do?)

Attitudes: (What do we want students to feel, value and demonstrate?)

    1. Curiosity : Students  demonstrate a sense of eagerness to learn new things around them.
    2. Independence:  Students  become independent in communicating their address clearly.

Attributes of the learner profile: (What we are trying to understand and become)

    Subject integration:
Math – ascending order and descending order

Social Studies – elements of address, landmarks, directions, continents

English – common and proper noun, alphabetical order

Language:  first letter of the continents based on the sound

    Art: morning and evening sky

    Music: song on directions
    How you can help......

    Sincerely,
    Grade 1 Teachers.
